Report of man with gun (complainant may have been the Mom), possibly drunk, exited bar, went to a random home. 2 Officers responded, tried to de-escalate, subject attempted to walk away. The subject’s brother was also standing close to the subject, so Officer Morales got him away from the subject. The subject was then too close to Officer Morales so he pushed him away from himself to create enough distance and then deployed the BolaWrap around the legs as he was walking away. Deploying officer may have been too close. One anchor hit the ground. Subject immediately froze and looked down. Officers rushed him and got him handcuffed with no additional force. The subject appeared “shocked” when they wrapped him. It should also be noted that Officer Morales told the subject’s Mom (the complainant) what he was going to do with regard to using the BolaWrap, although she did scream thinking her son had been shot. No injuries of subject or officers.
